"Institutions, Constitutions: The Judiciary's Role in the 21st Century" (honoring Asher Grunis)

In collaboration with York's Centre for Public Policy and Law, Osgoode Hall Law School will be hosting the Symposium "Institutions, Constitutions: The Judiciary's Role in the 21st Century" on September 26 & 27, 2016. The symposium will explore comparative constitutional ideas and the role of the courts in advancing constitutional values in Canada and Israel, as well as recognize the many contributions of former Israeli Supreme Court President Dr. Asher D. Grunis '77 (DJur).

The event begins with a half-day panel on Monday, September 26th, hosted at Osgoode's Professional Development Centre at 1 Dundas Street West, Toronto. The Symposium will also feature a welcome cocktail reception on the evening of September 26th, where Prof. Irwin Cotler, Former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada will deliver a public keynote in honour of Dr. Grunis.
