What is Mishpat Ivri? Academic Understanding and Personal Reflections

This is the first of a three-part series that explores the relationship between Jewish law and values ("mishpat ivri") and the Israeli legal system.  This first lecture will be presented by Dr. Adiel Zimran and Daniel Feit.  Adiel Zimran received a Ph.D in philosophy from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 2016, and is currently a postdoctoral fellow at NYU School of Law. Adiel has an LLB from the Law Faculty of Hebrew U., and he was a Law Clerk at the Supreme Court of Israel. In addition, Adiel holds a BSc. in chemistry and biology, and an MSc. in physical-chemistry. Recently, Adiel was a researcher at the I.D.I, and he taught at Hebrew University.  When not functioning as shul president, Daniel Feit is a lawyer for Macquarie Bank. He previously clerked for Justice Menachem Elon, at the Israeli Supreme Court.

These lectures are co-sponsored by the Hebrew Institute of Riverdale--The Bayit and the Israeli Supreme Court Project.  Each will take place at the Hebrew Institute, which is located at 3700 Henry Hudson Parkway in the Bronx.
